Academic Services

During the ACE Veteran Success Jam, several conversations emphasized that an engaged student veteran population best creates positive change with faculty or staff allies. When students, administrators, and faculty team up, effective change is much more likely than if one of these elements acts on its own. This is especially true when it comes to academic services, where a student veteran’s success depends upon an educated staff and faculty that understands their needs and provides necessary academic support.

This section of the Toolkit explores key success factors related to academic services for student veterans. These include effective faculty-veteran communication, tutoring programs, policies, and flexibility related to class absences, accommodations for students with disabilities, and veteran-only courses.
